About Swanwick Centre
The Centre opened in 1977 as a school based on the teaching of J. Krishnamurti who himself visited the Centre in 1978. After the closure of the school in 1981, the property was converted into the Swanwick Centre, operated by the Krishnamurti Educational Centre of Canada and inspired by his vision that 'this place could be an oasis for mankind'.
Today the Centre builds on the foundation of Krishnamurt's advocacy of truth and freedom through open inquiry into our beliefs, attitudes and assumptions, and thereby allowing for the emergence of insight into ourselves, the nature of mind and the limits of thought.
To this end, it offers retreats and events that support conscious living through inquiry into self, truth and freedom. It also offers a serene space for rentals by groups interested in health and well-being of body, mind and spirit.
